Billy May for President  THCD-33 Billy May for President
Pat Longo's Super Big Band featuring Frank Sinatra, Jr
A swinging collection in which several composers pay joyful and imitative tribute to the dean of arrangers, Billy May. Featured is the outstanding West Coast big band of our time led by alto saxophonist Pat Longo. Billy May himself arranged the five accompaniments for Frank Sinatra, Jr.
A recital of upbeat American music.
This TownHall CD is a compilation of songs that arise when confronting political, social, racial, economic, or spiritual "railroad tracks" or boundaries. The twelve tracks include songs by each of the Mayorgas, Duke Ellington, Ewan MacColl, Dorsey Dixon and traditional songs in original arrangements.

Sheri Bauer-Mayorga's unique and expressive voice establishes her as a skillful and innovative interpreter capable of handling this unusual mix of musical genres. This collaboration with husband, Lincoln Mayorga, as pianist and producer, has turned out an original and beautifully transparent sounding recording. Instrumentation includes vocals, guitar, and accordion by Sheri Bauer-Mayorga, Lincoln Mayorga on piano, Pete Toigo on bass, Jeff Kraus on percussion and Trevor Caldwell on Low D whistle. The town of Chatham, New York makes a guest appearance on one tune with its local marching bands, the 2002 Chatham Fair, the local espresso bar, and the mayor's barking beagle.
Live performances of Mayorga's unique piano recitals in which he demonstrates connections between European music and American jazz and popular music. The music is interspersed with informative commentary and amusing anecdotes.
The vitality and playfulness of the jazz era is captured in this collection of novelty piano solos composed by colleagues of George Gershwin. Pianist Lincoln Mayorga's light-spirited and virtuosic playing brings life to this rarely recognized American genre of music. Included on the Compact Disc is a nineteenth century precursor of the novelty piano solo, Louis Moreau Gottschalk's "The Banjo".
